X-Scotland – part 2. (Down hill) Callander to Forth Road Bridge

After waiting through March and April due to storms, May had a window before the midgies season took hold.

So, here I go again. This time with the Old Grey Seal (Mariner 17′ sea kayak) and my trusty old creek boat, a Dagger Animus. Which to my knowledge is the only one in the country as they were never imported to the the UK.

Day – 1 Venacher Dam to Callander. R. Eas Gobain. And would you credit it? Where’s the water?!! Even so, I managed to scrape over the first two centre channel ledges, but had to portage the third in the three pools beside the dam. Then a bit of a walk down the middle to the first weir. Made the mistake of caution and portaged the weir and line down the kayak, when it turned sideways and half filled with water under the drop! Urghh! Not a glorious start!
