Thru-UK Attempt 2026
In autumn 2025 I came up with a rather ambitious idea: to travel the entire length of England inland by kayak, from the Sussex coast to Gretna Green. An estimated 600 miles of rivers, canals, abandoned waterways and unavoidable portages – despite the fact that the route is theoretically impossible!
Delayed by health issues and a deteriorating knee, I finally set off in April 2026. I’m tackling the journey in stages over many months, with no fixed finishing date – just a kayak, a trolley and a stubborn determination to discover whether it really can be done.
